OVT Remembers The Life of Jennifer Cazares

Our Vote Texas is mourning the loss of our beautiful friend and fellow advocate, Jennifer Cazares, who passed away on July 5, 2022. We are honored to have known her and grateful for the years of advocacy she poured into Texas communities and the fight for the advancement of voter rights in our state.

Jennifer Cazares served as Vice President of Texans Against Gerrymandering, our friends and fellow coalition members in Fair Maps Texas. She played an important role in helping to mobilize her community and fellow redistricting advocates to participate in the redistricting session of the 87th Legislature. And when the time came to stand up for fair and responsive representation for Texans and challenge the unconstitutional district maps passed by the State of Texas, Jenny joined up in that fight.

We are deeply grateful for the time we got to spend with Jenny over the years in this work and we are forever changed by it.

Jenny believed in the power of our vote. She believed it was worth fighting for. She believed in holding those in power accountable and that all Texans deserve a seat at the table with an equal voice in shaping the future of our state.

It is in memory and celebration of her life that we will keep fighting for fair, representative maps for ALL in the state of Texas, working just as she did to make sure that the power of our vote…our voice is never silenced.

We will miss you dear friend. Thank you.
