AUSTIN, TX - On Thursday, May 25th, the Texas House General Investigating Committee voted to recommend impeachment proceedings for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

The decision follows a day after committee members listened to multiple hours of testimony on May 24th about years of misconduct which include abuse of office and potential felony actions.

Our Vote Texas Board Director Carl Blair issues the following statement on these developments:

“Our Vote Texas is an organization that works to promote voter education for Texas voters and transparency from our state's public officials. Wrongdoing by any official, regardless of which party they belong to, or which office they hold, erodes the trust that we Texans must be able to have in our elected officials.

“The findings laid out in the committee hearing this week show a pattern of abuse of power by Attorney General Paxton and we believe that the Texas Legislature now has a duty to carry out impeachment proceedings so that lawmakers can evaluate these allegations with transparency and fairness for the good of the public."
