Celebrating Juneteenth!
Teaching Juneteenth
On Saturday, June 19th, we give reverence to the day in 1865 when enslaved Texans learned they’d be free.
This was two months after Robert E. Lee surrendered and ended the Civil War and a full two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
Whether working with students in a learning space or discussing the importance fo Juneteenth with our families, it’s important to highlight what the fight for liberation looks like today as it continues. We’re including a few helpful resources further down below!
