This Violence Must End

In the wake of the devastating tragedy in Uvalde yesterday, we join all in mourning for the victims, their families, and the entire community.

We want to take this moment to lift up a few ways you can help support the people of Uvalde at this time and those links are available below.

We are heartbroken.
This year will mark 10 years since the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary.
Yesterday marked a mere 10 days since the last mass shooting in America.

The children of Robb Elementary had a mere 2 days left in their school year.
Texans deserve to live free of this near constant threat of gun violence and it must end.

Those in power who would toss up their hands and tell us there's nothing to be done have it wrong and we urge lawmakers in the U.S. Senate to act now and pass HR 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act.

Follow the League of Women Voters action alert HERE to let our lawmakers know you support HR 8.

What Texas Has Done On This Issue

We’re including some important reporting from the Texas Tribune below to give Texans some background information on what our state legislature has done over the years to address gun violence in our home state.

Texas has had eight mass shootings in the past 13 years, while lawmakers have steadily loosened restrictions on carrying firearms

We will continue to share ways to provide support as we receive that information and we thank you for taking action.
