House Redistricting Meets Tomorrow - Texas Deserves Fair Maps

Unfortunately lawmakers are only giving Texans a little over 24 hrs notice on a redistricting hearing the House Committee has scheduled for tomorrow. The House Redistricting Committee will take up SB 6 - the Senate’s congressional map proposal - October 13th (tomorrow) at 10am.

If you’d like to sign up to testify virtually, you only have until 10pm tonight to do so. Check out the hearing notice HERE.

No, This Is Not A Fair And Open District Drawing Process.

Texans are NOT getting a fair hand when it comes to the state’s redistricting effort right now. Lawmakers are moving at top speed on maps that don't prioritize the people and would silence entire populations of Texas communities.

We deserve fair maps. We deserve an open process that allows time for our input and we deserve for that input to be incorporated into these map proposals.

But that’s not what we’re getting and we need to call lawmakers out on it.

Plug In And Take Action.

  1. Sign up to testify in person or virtually — Visit the hearing notice for details.
If testifying virtually, watch your email for follow-up steps to confirm your registration.

  2. Submit public comments via the committee portal HERE.

  3. Write up a letter to the editor calling out this rushed process and these maps that target the power of our vote. See our recent post with letter template HERE.

  4. Take a minute to record a quick video sharing your community's story and talking about why #FairMaps matter to you with Every Texan’s #ShowUsTheMaps campaign!
