The 2023
Our Vote Texas
Recap

Our Vote Texas was a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing voter education and good public policy in Texas through advocacy and outreach.

Our organization began in January of 2017 and our nonprofit was founded in August of that same year.

In November of 2023, it was announced that Our Vote Texas would be dissolving as an organization and would not be continuing into the 2024 year.

In our final report below, you will find a brief summary of our advocacy efforts this year.

The 88th Legislative Session At A Glance

Our Vote Texas tracked over 160 pieces of legislation related to voting, education and redistricting at the beginning of 2023, taking action on nearly 40 bills and sent over 1,800 letters to lawmakers related to these issues.

We also continued to mobilize communities to submit written and in-person testimony before committee members of both the Texas House and Senate. Additionally, we organized two community focused informational events that allowed us to engage with Texans about critical bills moving through the legislative process to further grassroots education and advocacy.

Digital Resouces For Texas Voters

The 2023 election season saw us pivot to digital resources for Texas voters, including updates to our OVT Voter Hub and the availability of all Know Your Texas Voter Rights materials for download.

These resources will continue to be available online for the 2024 year and the OVT Voter Hub will continue to be routinely updated ahead of Texas election cycles.

Our Vote Texas Marks Six Years & Looks To Community Advocacy

What's Next For Our Vote Texas

As an organization, Our Vote Texas has worked for the past six years to promote and provide helpful voter education information + voter rights advocacy in our home state.

In November of this year, Our Vote Texas Board of Directors and OVT President made the decision to move forward in our own work as a community advocacy effort and Our Vote Texas has now formally dissolved as a designated 501(c)(3) organization.

We thank you for your support over the years and for fighting with us for Texas voters at every opportunity. The need for Texas voter rights advocacy is no less crucial than it was at our start and we will continue to speak out for the Texas vote in a multitude of ways as we head into a new year. As we shift into this next phase, we look forward to continuing this important work with you to champion voters.
